37 Professors Promoted At Ibrahim Badamasi University Within 3 Years

The Niger State based Ibrahim Babangida University has promoted 104 of its academic staff, the Vice-chancellor, Professor Muhammed Nasir Maiturare said out of the 104 academic staff promoted, 37 were elevated to the rank of professors during the second combined convocation ceremony at the Babaginda Badamasi University, Lapai, Niger state.

He explained that IBBUL council has approved the promotion of the 104 academic staff which includes 37 professors, senior Lecturers and lecturer cadres over the last three years, not less than 558 non-teaching staff were also elevated within the same period.

Prof Maiturare also stated that constant promotion is mandatory in the development of high standard institutions. He said 92 academic staff has been trained for PhD, while 69 other staff went for Masters Degree training within the country and overseas.

The Governor of Niger state, Abubaker Bello pledged that his administration would establish a special fund for tertiary institutions.

“We must move away from lip service and wishful thinking. We should take practical steps to reposition the education sector in the country and not necessarily developing too many conflicting and confusing national education policies,” he said.
