A former Military Head of State, Abdulsalami Abubakar will be honored with a doctorate degree in Public Administration by the University of Calabar (UNICAL) during its 32nd Convocation ceremony.
The former Head of States will be honored alongside the Chairman of Igbo Traditional Rulers Council, HRM Dr. Cletus Ilomuanya as well as a former Governor of Cross River state, Mr. Clement Ebri.
This was made known to pressmen in Calabar by the Vice Chancellor of the University, Prof. Zana Akpagu during a pre-convocation briefing at the Senate Chambers of the institution.
According to the VC, a total of 9,174 students will be presented with various degrees ranging from diplomas, first degrees, masters degrees and postgraduate degrees.
Giving a breakdown of the graduating students, the VC said five students will bag first class, 2356 second class upper, 4532 second class lower, 672 third class while 42 will get pass degrees.
318 students will get the ordinary diplomas, 221 postgraduate degrees in education, 602 masters degrees and 251 will get doctorate degrees.
Akpagu disclosed that a former Attorney General and Minister of Justice, Kanu Agabi (SAN) will deliver a convocation lecture with the theme; ‘One nation, one destiny: the way forward’ noting that the university is looking forward to gaining from his legal experience and also contribute to nation building.
