Prof. E. Uche Ikonne, Vice Chancellor of Abia State University (ABSU) has charged former officials of the Students Representative Council (SRC) of the institution to exhibit leadership qualities, which they had imbibed in their stay in the university.
Receiving an award of Excellence from the immediate past SRC of the institution, Prof. Ikonne said that as future leaders, students, particularly those who found themselves in leadership positions among students, must demonstrate good qualities for others to emulate.
The VC explained that as an ivory tower with the focus of excellence, students of ABSU must always present the university as a citadel of excellent learning and institution of honour, pointing out that since the introduction of “our story must change” initiative by his administration, the institution has moved from better to best.
He prayed for God’s wisdom and grace over the students to discharge their duties effectively wherever they find themselves outside the university community.
The immediate past SRC disclosed that the award was also done in recognition of the VC’s outstanding leadership in the university.
