The Staff of the University of Jos (UNIJOS) have been ordered by the Vice Chancellor of the institution, Prof. Sebastine Maimako, to complete relocation to the permanent site of the university after operating from the temporary site for 44 years.

Prof. Maimako gave the order while taking over the newly constructed administrative and Senate buildings from the contractor on Monday.

At a brief handing over ceremony which was held at the new site of the university, the VC stated, “I hereby direct all administrative staff of the university to move to the permanent site immediately”.

The movement to the permanent site has been gradual and in phases since 2010, with the relocation of some of the faculties to the permanent site.

The administrative and Senate sections, however, remained at the temporary site due to non-completion of the building in ten years.

The Senate building which has two committee rooms of thirty people seat each and one boardroom with a capacity of thirty people, is to accommodate the management staff, lecturers and the administrative staff of the university.

The VC, who was visibly excited, expressed appreciation to the staff who contributed to the success of the project. He also pleaded with them to use the facilities carefully.
