Prof. Ibrahim Garba, Vice Chancellor,Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria has stated that his management team has embarked on changing the university’s structure, design and content from the founder’s ideas to meet the current global design.
The Vice Chancellor disclosed this yesterday while declaring the 2018 School of Postgraduate Studies Biennial National Conference opened.
“This University has gone through removable adjustments in recent times. God Almighty was merciful to us to have been able to succeed in dislodging some things we have been doing for decades. We succeeded with the cooperation of both staff and students including those that were rigid but gradually agreed to transforming the character and landscape of the university.
“When we attempted to reconfigure the Kongo campus, people reminded us with so much emotions that it was the design of the late Premier, but the question is do we remain where we are? We remained focused and we are now seeing results,” the VC said.
“The changes brought about the splitting of the faculty of science into two, dividing the department of Business Administration into four, the establishment of the ABU Business School and the College of Health Sciences which led to the expansion of the carrying capacity of the university and the cropping up of many postgraduate programs,” the VC added.
According to Daily Trust, the VC also said the changes led to the development of new structures which allowed the institution to compete with others universities in the world.
