The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) of Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH) has said that its members were part of the union’s ongoing nationwide strike.

This was made known via a statement jointly signed by its chairman, Dr. Biodun Olaniran and Secretary, Toyin Abegunrin which was made available to press men in Ibadan on Tuesday.

The Union in the statement, said that there was no academic activity going on at LAUTECH, as its members were complying with the national strike called by ASUU.

According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), LAUTECH resumed academic activities for the 2018/2019 session on Monday.

However, the union said that it was monitoring the activities of the university management and would not allow it to sow any seed of discord among its members.

“IT is surprising that the management that has barely one month to the expiration of its tenure would want to create frictions among members, which has never happened in the 29 years of the existence of the university.

“At the appropriate time, the motive for this act, would be made known to the public,” the statement read.

ASUU lauded the parents for their understanding, urging them not to allow anybody to use their children against their teachers.
