Borno State University Sets To Commence Academic Activities As Gov. Shettima Appoints Principal Officers

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), reports that all plans have been put on ground for the commencement of academic activities of the Borno state-owned university following the appointments of principal officers by the Governor of the state, Kashim Shettima.

According to NAN, a statement issued by the Borno state Commissioner for Higher Education, Dr. Abu-Bakr Hassan, on Saturday said that the Borno State Executive Council, under the leadership of Gov. Shettima has approved the appointments of key principal officers and essential staff needed for the commencement of academic activities.

Principal officers appointed include; Prof. Umar Sandabe as Vice Chancellor, Prof. Haruna Dlakwa as Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academics) and Prof. Fanna Inna Abdulrahman as Deputy Vice Chancellor (Administration).

Others include; Zanna Mustapha Kashim as Registrar, Adamu Saliau as Bursar, Abba Buba as Librarian, Mohammed Habib as Director of Works, Physical Planning and Development, Yusuf B. Yari as Chief Security Officer and Madu Tasiwa Mshelia as Internal Auditor.

The statement also said the governor had severally made it known that the university would not commence from a temporary site but its permanent site located at Jimtilo area of Maiduguri.

“Buildings that have been constructed and completed by the state government for the institution include five faculty complexes, Senate building, Administrative building, theater halls, lecture halls, classrooms, offices, departmental libraries, laboratories and an entrepreneurship training center and ICT complex which was built and donated by Zenith Bank plc,” the statement added.
