Bowen University VC Calls On Stakeholders To Provide Quality Education

Prof. Joshua Ogunwole, Vice Chancellor of Bowen University, Iwo, Osun State, has called on stakeholders in the education sector to make sure that quality education is available and accessible to all Nigerians at all times.

The VC made the call at the 14th convocation ceremony of the institution where about 868 graduating students bagged first and postgraduate degrees.

“The quality of the economic or political contribution of a nation’s young or adult population is dependent on the quality of education received by the citizens.

“Although tertiary education is expensive, all stakeholders must act intentionally and be responsive to the challenge of delivering the best education to the entire population, this will help to secure the future of the country,” he stated.

Dr. Akinwunmi Adesina, President of Africa Development Bank, in his lecture at the convocation ceremony, urged the Federal Government to set aside twenty per cent of earnings from oil to drive science and innovations.

Dr. Akinsina also stressed the need for Nigeria to put in place a National Science and Innovation Fund to drive innovation for faster technology-enabled growth.
