The National Industrial Court, Abuja, has ordered the Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria to pay its retiree, Mary Olorunmaiye, her entitlements which include her gratuity and pension benefits.

Olorunmaiye had approached the court to seek redress when her gratuity after thirty-four years of service and twenty months pension remittance were not paid by the university.

Justice Sanusi Kado, in delivering his judgement declared that the defendant, who fields its counter affidavit out of time, did not seek leave of court to amend the process. He said that there was no sufficient evidence by the defendant to counter the claims and reliefs sought by the claimant.

He therefore ordered the defend to pay the claimant N3.17m as her gratuity and also ordered the defendant to pay the claimant’s Pension Fund Administrator (PFA), N73,044 for necessary remittance to the claimant.

Kado said the judgement must be complied within twenty-one days after which the judgement sum shall attract ten percent interest per annum.
