Dr. Ogaga Ifowodo, a Nigerian Poet, academic scholar and a multiple award winner of the Association of Nigerian Authors prize for poetry will on the 8th of May, 2019 be hosted to a poetry reading and interactive session by the Department of English and Literary Studies of the Delta State University (DELSU), Abraka, Delta state.
Ifowodo, a scholar of humanities studied Law at the University of Benin (UNIBEN), where he distinguished himself as an activist and starry-eyed Marxist, when he led the famous Anti-SAP students riot in Benin during the repressive military presidency of General Ibrahim Babaginda.
In a statement issued by Dr. Enajite Eseghene Ojaruega of the Department of English, the poetry reading and interactive session will see Dr. Ifowodo reading selected poems from his poetry collections.
An interactive session with him on topical issues that will alternate between the state of education, politics, and leadership in the country and, the relevance of writers and writing will also be featured.
The session, which will have the institution’s Dean of Arts, Prof. Sunny Awhefeada, as the chief host, will commence at 10:00am and will hold in the ultra-modern 1,000-seater auditorium of the university.
