Mrs. Grace Akpabio, Ondo State Coordinator of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), over the weekend revealed that about 1,313 corps members had completed the one year mandatory service in the state.
Akpabio, however, stated that eighteen out of the total numer were sanctioned for disobeying the rules and regulations of the scheme.
She disclosed this in her farewell address to the 2018 Batch ‘C’ Stream II corps memers who were discharged from the national service.
In her farewell message, Akpabio stated that out of the corps members that received certificates of national service, three got state honour awards and fifteen got the state coordinator’s commendation certificates.
“However, services of four recalcitrant corps members were extended for not measuring up to the required standard at their places of primary assignment and fourteen who absconded the service were recommended for remoilisation subject to approval of the Directorate HQ in Auja,” she stated.
The state coordinator urged them to be independent and earn the respect of society and not be a liability to their respective family members.
