Acting Vice Chancellor of the Ekiti State University (EKSU) over the weekend, threatened to rusticate any student owing fees in the institution, thereby slowing development due to lack of funds in the university.

The Acting VC, Prof. Olubunmi Ajayi gave the warning in a statement issued by the school’s Directorate of Information and Corporate Affairs during the matriculation ceremony of 7,664 newly admitted students.

According to the management of the university, the era when defaulted students were being shown mercy on school fees was over, saying it would not hesitate to send away any student who fails to pay his or her school fees.

Prof. Ajayi said the university will not hesitate to withdraw the studentship of any student who fails to pay promptly for the ongoing 2018/2019 academic session.

She urged the newly admitted students to be wary of scammers, who, under the pretence of rendering assistance to unsuspecting new students, defraud them of their money and possessions.

The VC said it was compulsory for them to attend lectures regularly because the institution would continue to enforce seventy per cent attendance for any student to be eligible to sit for examinations.

She emphasized the need for them to avoid secret cults and to abide by the rules and regulations of the university in order to avoid being suspended or expelled.
