The Provost of the Federal College of Education (Technical), Akoka, Dr. Wahap Azeez has tasked the Federal Government to provide special learning equipment for the physically challenged students to reduce stress and enhance learning.

Dr. Azeez, speaking at the matriculation ceremony of the Distance Learning Programme (DLP) of the college, stated that facilities provided by the government were mainly for the regular people which stand as a barrier for the physically challenged.

The Provost said it is unfair to build schools without putting the physically challenged into consideration. He said the special centre opened for the physically challenged was not enough as other challenges may discourage them.

Azeez lamented that some of the centre lacked essential equipment for some courses thus resulting in the low number of admitted students.

“We also want to start physical health education programme and we making plans to set up facilities for that purpose and also in the area of Information and Communication Technology (ICT),” the Provost stated.

The Distance Learning Programme Director, Dr. Toye Manuwa, urged the newly admitted students to adhere to the school’s rules and regulations and advised them to shun bad company, hooliganism, cultism, examination malpractice and other social vices.
