The Federal Government has assured the Federal University Dutse (FUD) that facilities at the institution’s College of Medical Sciences will be upgraded to ensure accreditation of the programme.
Mr. Boss Mustapha, Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), disclosed this on Friday in Abuja when he received the team from the university in his office.
Mustapha stressed the importance of accreditation of the programme as it would enhance teaching and learning in the university.
He assured that everything would be done by the FG to make sure that the request of the university to upgrade the facilities at the State Specialist Hospital to the required standard of a Teaching Hospital would be given due consideration.
The Vice Chancellor of the University, Prof. Fatimah Batul Muktar, while speaking earlier, stated that the National Universities Commission (NUC) had given approval for the university to embark on the program and that Jigawa State Government had released the state’s Specialist Hospital to the university to be used as a teaching hospital.
She appealed to the FG to quicken action on the upgrade of the facilities at the specialist hospital since accreditation panel is due to visit the university in Novemner, this year.
