The Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics (ASUP) has said that the leaders of the union would meet with the Federal Government’s negotiation team on January 10, 2019, to continue discussions aimed at resolving the ongoing crisis.

Premium Times reports that the National President of ASUP, Usman Dutse, made this known to men of the press on Thursday evening.
According to Dutse, the union would continue with its strike until they are satisfied with the offer from the federal government.

“We are meeting with the Federal Government representatives on the 10th of January, to continue with our discussion,” he stated.

The President of ASUP urged the FG to pay more attention to polytechnic education and prioritise the sector in the coming year adding that the sector has been underfunded and neglected for too long.

The demands of ASUP include the implementation of NEED assessment report, payment of CONTISS 15 arrears, implementation of the scheme of service, non-payment of salaries in state-owned polytechnics and victimization of members.
