The Ekiti State Government has distributed relief materials to students of the Ekiti State University (EKSU) whose off-campus hostels were affected by flooding caused by rains last weekend.
According to reports, the materials which include cash, food items and disinfectants were given to about two hundred students that were affected.
The Executive Governor of the state, Dr. Kayode Fayemi has made it known that his administration has taken steps aimed at curbing a reoccurence of the natural disaster.
The Governor, who was represented by the Secretary to the state government, Biodun Oyebanji, and the Chief of Staff to the Governor, Biodun Omoleye, at the presentation event, lamented that the students were displaced by the flood.
He stated that the materials were procured to meet their immediate needs, promising that the state government would cater for the losses incurred by the students.
