The Governing Council of the Federal University Dutsinma (FUD) has approved the appointment of Prof. Adamu Nchama Baba-Kutigi as the new Acting Vice Chancellor of the institution.
The approval of the new VC followed his nomination by the Senate of the university at its 73rd Emergency meeting which was held on Wednesday, 20th March, 2019.
Habibu Garba Matazu, Acting Director, Public Relations and Protocols of the university in a statement, said the appointment of the new VC would take effect as from the 27th of March, 2019.
The appointment, he said, was in line with section 5 sub-section 14 of the Universities Miscellaneous provision Amendment Act of 2003, adding that the appointment was for a maximum of six months.
“The appointment would subsist only up to the time the university authority is able to appoint a substantive Vice Chancellor provided the time is within the period from 27th March to 26th September, 2019,” he said.
The Pro-chancellor and Chairman of Council, Prof. Marliyya Zayyan and members of the Governing Council of the institution have since congratulated the new Acting Vice Chancellor for his appointment.
The new Acting VC served as Deputy Director, Center for Preliminary and Extra Moral Studies and served as a Member Governing Council representing Congregation at the Federal University of Technology, Minna.
