Olufunke Ayotunde Akindele, popularly known as Funke Akindele, is a popular Nigerian actress, writer and movie producer who has starred in several movies within and outside the shores.

The’I Need To Know’ actress has won several awards and has been nomited in different categories due to her outstanding perfomances in the Nigerian Film Industry.

She plays the lead character in the tv series ‘Jenifa’s Diary’ for which she was awarded ‘Best Actress in a Comedy at the 2016 Africa Magic Viewers Choice Awards (AMVCA).

Funke Akindele Bello, who is the CEO of Scene One Film Production, was born on the 24th of August 1977 (41 years old).

Early Life and Education

Funke Akindele was born on the 24th of August 1977 in Ikorodu, Lagos. She is the second of three children. Her mum is a Medical Doctor while her dad is a retired School Principal.

She obtained an Ordinary National Diploma (OND) in Mass Communication from the former Ogun State Polytechnic, now Moshood Abiola Polytechnic and later proceeded for her Law degree from the University of Lagos (UNILAG), Akoka, Yaba.

Funke Akindele Movies and Career

Funke Akindele came into limelight after starring in the popular United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA)-sponsored sitcom ‘I need to know’ tv series which ran from 1998 to 2002, where she played Bisi, a curious but highly intelligent secondary school student.

Funke Akindele’s BIG break came in 2009 when she produced and appeared in the comedy movie ‘Jenifa’

Sometime in January 2018, there was a controversy when it was reported that the beautiful actress would get her Hollywood debut in Marvel’s Avengers: Infinity Wars as she listed as one of the casts but was later replaced with Genevieve Nnaji.

In February 2018, it was later reported that the then Senate President, Dr Bukola Saraki, adviced Marvel Studios to feature Funke Akindele in the movie.

The mother of a set of twin plays the lead character in the ongoing tv series ‘Jenifa’s Diary’ alongside Fisayo Ajisola, Falz, and a host of other talented actors.

 

Personal Life

Funke Akindele got married to her first husbnd, Adeola Kehinde Oloyede, on the 26th of May, 2012. Citing irreconciliable differences, the couple got divorced in July 2013. The amazing actress later got married to JJC Skills, a talented Nigerian music artist. With JJC Skills, Funke Akindele gave birth to twin boys in December 2018.

 

Charity Initiative

Funke Akindele Bello runs a Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) known as the Jenifa Foundation. The NGO is targeted at training young people and youth with vocational skills.

 

Endorsements

The beautiful actress can boast of several endorsement deals such as being an Ambassador to Irokotv. She was also signed as keystone Bank Ambassador in 2018. She was also signed as the Brand Ambassador of Dettol early this year.

Funke Akindele-Bello has been one of the most celebrated actresses and gained world-wide acclaim for her Jenifar character and which was why she was identified by Dettol as being worthy of championing the “Clean Naija” cause.
