The Vice Chancellor of the Federal University Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE), Prof. Kayode Shoremekun has said that any of the university’s postgraduate student caught plagiarizing would be expelled from the institution.

He, therefore, urged them to engage in scholarly research that could be of benefit to them, to the institution and also to the country.

The VC, while speaking at the maiden FUOYE’s matriculation ceremony of 292 postgraduate students, attributed the dearth of research by university students, particularly at postgraduate to low-level support from the Federal Government.

The VC, who was represented by the Chairman, Committee of Deans and Dean, Faculty of Engineering, Prof. Babatope Alabadan, noted that sustainable development and meaning growth could only be achieved through adequate and continuous research in universities.

He also urged the government and other education stakeholders to put in more effort in research studies and charged the students to buckle up as the future lies on young researchers like them.
