The Federal University of Petrroleum, Effurun (FUPRE) in Delta State will on Saturday bestow Ned Nwoko, a foremost lawyer and philanthropist, with an hononary degree for his outstanding contributions to social progress and human capital development.
A nomination letter dated April 15, 2019 signed by the university’s Vice Chancellor, Prof. Akii Ibhodode said Ned Nwoko was chosen for his pedigree of philanthropy, service and integrity, adding that the university was convinced that he had evolved enduring legacies that would inspire the new generation to pursue their goals for the greatness of the society.
Nwoko who is a prince of Idumuje Ugboko kingdom in Delta state is known for public charities through scholarships to students in secondary and tertiary schools as well as empowerment scheme to thousands of people.
He is the facilitator of the proposed Stars University, Idumuje Ugboko, the first Sports institution in sun Saharan Africa.
Nwoko who is also a credible politician, was recently declared the Senator elect for Delta North senatorial district by a Federal High Court in Abuja, which ruled that he was the winner of the October 2, 2018 primary election for the National Assembly.
