The Federal University of Technology Akure (FUTA) has been the declared the best institution at the second edition of the National Statistics Competition which was held in Kwali, Abuja.
Report revealed that the national competition, organized by the Nigerian Statistical Association (NSA) had forty-two final year students from twenty-one institutions in attendance.
Usman Idowu and Mikali Olajide from FUTA emerged the winners of the competition winning gold medal as best students.
Merua Ozomela from Michael Okpara University of Agriculture in Abia state emerged the overall best student, placing the three students on gold award category. Six students emerged second best in the silver award category, while nine students emerged third best in the bronze award category.
For institution performace, Michael Okpara University and Usman Dan Fodiyo University in Sokoto emerged second and third best institutions respectively.
In his remarks, Prof. Sidney Onyeagu, President of NSA, congratulated the winners for their outstanding performances in the competition, which focused on inferential statistics.
