Forty-two students will be awarded first class degrees, 834 will be awarded second class upper degrees, 1.352 will be awarded second class lower degrees at the 31st convocation ceremony of the Federal University of Technology, Owerri (FUTO) on Saturday 6th of April 2019.
The Vice Chancellor of the university, Prof. Francis Eze, told pressmen in Owerri that among the graduating students, Miss Ogwo Onyinechi Jane of the Department of Marine Management Technology got a CPGA of 4.90 which made her the best graduating student.
He said twenty-nine students will be awarded Doctor of Philosophy (PhD), 241 will be awarded Master’s degrees and 151 will be awarded Postgraduate Diploma.
The VC said the ceremony will be preceded over by a convocation lecture to be delivered by a former Minister of Power, Prof. Chinedu Nebo on the topic; “Achieving Economic Recovery and Growth Plan through Science and Technology”.
He also stated that the institution has continued to enjoy full accreditation status of all its academic programs by the National Universities Commission (NUC) while it has created a new School of Computing and Information Technology (SCIT).
