It was of great joy for the family of Esther Adaobi Azom of Afe Babalola University in Ado Ekiti who came out as the best graduating student with distinctions in Medicine, Surgery and Community Medicine.
Out of the 43 medical doctors produced by the Institution, Dr. Esther, 26 years of age, was called out to receive her award for being the best graduating student at the induction ceremony of the first set of medical doctors produced by the school which was recently held at school premises as reported by THISDAY.
The event held at the institution’s Alfa Belgore Hall, was full of dignitaries and royal fathers. The Ooni of Ife – Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, Ewi of Ado Ekiti – Oba Rufus Adejuyigbe Aladesanmi 3, Osemawe and paramount ruler of Ondo Kingdom – Oba Victor Kiladejo were present at the event.
It’s noted that Esther had maintained an excellent record of distinctions and won the University’s founder’s scholarship award of five hundred thousand naira and a brand new car worth of 5.7 million naira. She also got several cash prizes the royal fathers that were present at the induction event and an automatic employment in University College Hospital (UCH) in Ibadan.
Speaking with Esther at the event, she stated that “My experience in ABUAD has been good, being a medical student has been a challenge but I thank God that it ended in success. I attribute my success to hard work, diligence and the talent which God has given me.”
