The Kano State Government has approved the conversion of Abdullahi Wase Specialist Hospital in Nassarawa LGA to the status of University Teaching Hospital for Yusuf Maitama Sule University, Kano.

The Vice Chancellor of the institution, Prof. Mustapha Ahmad Isa made this known in Kano on Wednesday while addressing a delegation from the National Universities Commission (NUC) on accreditation visit to the university.

The NUV team which was led by Prof. Festus Ogunbona, had commenced inspection of facilities at the university to determine the possibility of running clinical sciences in the university.

Speaking to pressmen shortly after meeting with the accreditation team, the VC stated that the need for clinical sciences in the institution was necessitated by the management’s desire to augment the manpower challenges in the health sector within the Northwest sub-region.
