The attention of the authority of the Kwara State University (KWASU) has been drawn to an allegation levied against the institution on social media that KWASU connived with some politicians to procure Permanent Voter’s Card (PVC) from students for the purpose of the 2019 general elections.
Report revealed that the management of the institution had to release a press statement over the allegation by Yusuf Suleiman, Public Relations Director of the institution.
“We wish to state that the university has no link with any politician or political group, hence did not engage in any form of canvassing or undertaking any clandestine moves for anyone or groups concerning the ongoing elections.
“We wish to enjoin members of the public to disregard such posting on the social media or any platform or media as there is not truth in it.
“The university remains committed to its original mandate of teaching, research and community development,” the statement read.
