The members of the Lagos State Polytechnic (LASPOTECH) Alumni and other notable personnel were all in celebration mood as they celebrated the institution at forty.
The remarkable event was attended by the Rector of the institution, Yinka Sogunro who is also the national president of the Alumni Association and other notable guests.
The ceremony which featured a cultural display by the LASPOTECH cultural dance group had Dr. Bisi Onasanya decorated as fellow of the institution.
According to the Nation News, the rector of the polytechnic congratulated everyone at the event for the 40th anniversary and also explained that the institution which was established in 1977commenced operation in 1978, 40 years ago.
The rector also said the polytechnic has achieved a lot and that during the 26th convocation ceremony in 2017, Governor Akinwunmi Ambode who present, promised to build the administrative building and an auditorium for the school.
“In the history of tertiary in Nigeria, we are the first to put a drone together and flew it during the convocation ceremony,” the rector said.
Sogunro used the medium to appeal to the association to tell its members who are yet to collect their certificates to come for it.
The Chairman Governing Council of LASPOTECH, Tajudeen G.O. Gbadamosi, in his remarks said, “Over the last forty years, LASPOTECH has distinguished itself from others in the country. From inception to 2010, the polytechnic had turned out 52,000 graduates. In 2018, student enrolment was 30,790 in 36 department and 7 schools, including the school of part-time studies.”
