The Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH), Ogbomoso, has admitted nothing less than one thousand two hundred and forty-five new students into its four-year programs in Open and Distance Learning (ODL) Centre.

The Vice Chancellor of the university, Prof. Michael Ologunde, while speaking at the ceremony, expressed joy at the steady growth of the programs in leaps and bounds since it was licensed to offer Computer Science just as the centre was recently approved by the National Universities Commission (NUC) to admit students into three other programs.
The three new courses for the LAUTECH ODL Centre are; Nursing, Accounting and Marketing.

According to the Vice Chancellor, the ODL method has remained the best mode for flexible tailor-made delivery of instruction with little or no disruption to national, family and individual circumstances, while also taking advantages of emerging Information and Communication Technologies (ICT).

Ologunde explained that LAUTECH ODL now has students from different countries such as Canada, UK, India, South Africa, Ghana and Saudi Arabia. He also hinted of a robust partnership between the ODL Centre and the University of London.

The VC added that the foreign collaboration and enrolment will encourage more students who are desirous of the opportunity provided by the program as well as to enhance the rating of LAUTECH both within and outside the country.
