The 2018 edition of the Niyi Osundare International Poetry Festival is set to be hosted by the Lead City University, though, the event used to hold at the University of Ibadan, it will now take place at the Lead City University between May 28 and 30.
Dele Morakinyo, the founder, Mr. the theme for the year is Literature and Governance: Finding a Convergence for National Development.
He adds that the keynote speaker is Dr. Tunji Olaopa, a retired federal Permanent Secretary, and Executive Vice Chairman, Ibadan School of Government and Public Policy.
“The festival will continue its tradition of rich performances in poetry, drama, music and dance. Academic discourse around the works of Prof. Niyi Osundare, the renowned ‘people’s poet’, will feature literary giants drawn from Nigerian universities and the Diaspora,” Morakinyo notes.
The package also entails a reading by the poet laureate of one of his recent poems and his interaction with over 200 secondary school students drawn from Ibadan and environs.
