The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has commenced the May/June 2019 West African Senior Secondary Certificate Examination (WASSCE) on Monday which began with practical exercises and would end on Friday, June 7, 2019.

This comes amid the expected clashes with the 2019 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) which will be conducted by the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB), to commence on Thursday, April 11.

Unlike the WASSCE that is scheduled to span a space of two months, the 2019 UTME is billed to take place within one week, between April 11 and 17.

However, WASS candidates who are expected to take subjects like Plumbing and Pipe fitting, Animal Husbandry, Printing Craft Practice, Foods and Nutrition among others, may not be able to sit for the UTME with more than 25 subjects being affected because of the clash.
