The Governing Council of the Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike has reportedly sent demotion letters to twenty-four Professors of the institution.
Report revealed that decision was due to petitions that some aggrieved people sent to the Federal Ministry of Education.
Report also revealed that it was an internal procedure not aimed at demoting or promoting anybody, but rather at ensuring proper placement of all affected staff.
The University’s spokesperson, Adamma Nwachukwu, who confirmed the development, said it was due to petitions that some aggrieved people sent to the Minister of Education.
“Following the outcome of the process, Council directed that affected persons should revert to their proper placement.
“The university is not exactly interested in blowing this matter out of proportion. It is an internal procedure and was not targeted at demoting or promoting anybody, but rather at ensuring proper placement of all affected staff and not just Professors,” the spokesperson stated.
The spokesperson added that more details will emerge when the university publishes its bullen at the end of the month.
