The Al-Qalam University, Kastina has described a social media post in circulation alleging the kidnap and killing of its students as being false saying that “none of its student is reported missing, kidnapped or killed by any parent or security personnel.”

The false news in circulation said nine students of the university were on Saturday kidnapped along Kankara to Dutsinma road. Also, the news revealed that out of the nine students, four have been killed and a N20million ransom has been placed on the remaining five held in hostage.

A duly signed statement from the public affairs department of the institution said the university had contacted some relevant sources and yet no information confirming the incidence.

“Similarly, there has not been any report received by the university from parents of any student in connection with the kidnap. This is the update we can give for now as further efforts are on to come up with more facts surrounding this social media rumor,” the statement reads.

The state’s Police Command, SP Gambo Isah, when contacted, said the information is just another fake news that cannot be sustained. He said “no report in that regard was received by the Police.”
