Former president Obasanjo assumes office as a facilitator at the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN) on Tuesday, the Nigerian Tribune reports, siting a statement by the University Director on Media and Publicity, Mr Ibrahim Sheme.
Prof. Abdalla Uba Adamu, Vice-chancellor of the university was reported to have earlier appointed obasanjo as a facilitator after he bagged a PhD in Christian Theology in January from the University.
A Facilitator is a part-time coordinator for students in any Open and Distance Learning (ODL) System which Open Universities operate.
Prof. Ibrahim Salawu, the Director at the Abeokuta study centre, said the office allocation became necessary and also led Obasanjo and other members of staff on a tour of the study centre. “I am very pleased to have a former president of Nigeria as a colleague in the academia” he said
Former president on the other hand expressed satisfaction as he settles down and also promised to work for the progress of the university.
