
The National Universities Commission (NUC) has granted full accreditation to about twenty six academic programs of Alex Ekwueme Federal University in Ebonyi state.
The institution had presented 28 programs for accreditation last year, during the visit of the NUC’s accreditation panel.
The accredited programs include; Accounting, Business Administration, English Language, History, Music, French, Igbo, Philosophy, Anatomy, Fine & Applied Arts, Chemical Engineering, Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering and Civil Engineering.
Others are; Geo-Physics, Biology,Biochemistry, Chemistry, Mathematics, Physics, Economics, Political Science, Psychology, Sociology, Mass Communication, Criminolgy and Security Studies.
The accreditation of the programs were in line with the commitment of the Vice Chancellor of the university, Prof. Chinedum Nwajiuba, to ensure that all its academic programs are fully accredited before the end of his tenure.
The NUC Panel had during their visit to the university campus last year, commended Nwajiuba for the massive improvement in its infrastructure and academic activities, as well as in the provision of critical teaching and learning equipment.
While expressing his joy, the institution’s VC assured that all necessary academic facilities, equipment and staffing would be put in place to ensure that both mechanical and machatronics engineering programs receive full accreditation from NUC by 2020.
