
Nigerian Universities Commission (NUC) has finally approved the running of science-based postgraduate courses in the Federal University of Petroleum Resources, Delta state.
According to Daily Trust, Prof. Shehu Abdullahi Zuru, Pro Chancellor of the institution, disclosed on Tuesday after the council’s routine meeting. He said the approval came after interactive efforts by the council and the university authority to provide required academic and infrastructure commitment necessary for the approval.
“In keeping with the long standing tradition of this council, we have just had deliberations on serious issues that affect the university. We just concluded our third council of the year and we deliberated on very serious issues.
“At the core of the mandate of the university and particularly of interest was the approval of the PG programs by the council of the university and the NUC accreditation has been obtained. The programs are science based courses which are; Chemistry, Physics, Technology and other aspects of natural sciences,” the chairman of FUPRE Council stated.
