Benue State University (BSU) has defeated University of Jo’s (UNIJOS) 4-2, 8-6 in a Lawn Tennis duel to qualify for the quarterfinals at the ongoing Nigeria University Games (NUGA) Games, hosted by Federal University of Agriculture, Makurdi (UAM).
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the encounter led to two tie-breaks that forced the game longer than scheduled .
BSU player broke the tie twice to hand an 8-4 win that knocked out his opponent and gave him a quarterfinal ticket.
Ambrose Michael of the BSU mesmerised the tall and muscular Matthew Aku of UNIJOS he dished out powerful serves.
Michael’s powerful serves forced his opponent to fling his balls out of play many times in the encounter.
Michael was however, forced to a tie break after winning the first set 4-2 in a thrilling encounter.
