Operatives of the anti-cultism of the Imo State Police Command have raided Nekede and Ihiagwa where two tertiary institutions of the state are located in which four notorious cultists were arrested.
The two tertiary institutions are the Federal University of Technology, Owerri (FUTO) and the Federal Polytechnic, Nekede.
Rabiu Ladodo, Imo state Police Commissioner, stated that the action became necessary following frequent reports of cult-related activities as well as other crimes within Nekede/Ihiagwa and its environs.
He added that the four cultists belonging to a cult group that had been terrorizing residents of the university community.
The Commissioner for Police stated that the Police received credible information that members of a notorious cult group were forcefully trying to initiate an innocent student of FUTO.
This, according to him, prompted the operatives of anti-cultism unit to quickly swing into action and apprehended the four suspects within Ihiagwa community.
The CP noted that investigations are ongoing and efforts are being intensified to burst the syndicate and unmask other members of the cult group.
