The West African Examination Council (WAEC) is the main body in charge of the West Africa Senior School Certification Examination (WASSCE).

As we all know, the release of WASSCE results often comes with the announcement of the other results which were held by the council.

However, according to the West Africa Examination Council (WAEC), the major reason the council withhold results is due to examination malpractices. The council will withhold candidate’s results if they are found guilty of exams malpractice.

In some cases, candidate may have been found copying answers in the examination hall or left the exam hall with scripts and attempted to submit the same after the stipulated time.

Also, WAEC may decide to withhold candidate’s results if there were errors in their results and are being worked on in which it might later be released.

However, candidates whose results were withheld would have to wait for the Nigeria Examination Committee (NEC) decision on the withheld results after which they might be either cancelled or released depending on the decision of the committee.

Candidates can now easily reach the council via twitter to ask questions regarding withheld results or other related issues. WAEC’s Twitter handle is @waec.
