Security Operatives Storm UI Over Planned #RevolutionProtest

 

Teams of security operatives on Monday were seen scattered at the main entrance of the University of Ibadan (UI) in a bid to stop the planned nationwide protest conveyed by the Publisher of Sahara Reporters, Omoyele Sowore.

 

According to findings by campusbiz, some minutes before 8am, it was reportedly observed that the presence of a large number of security operatives around the main entrance of the institution, the development which took students, lecturers and visitors by surprise.

 

Sowore was arrested in the early hours of Saturday by the Department of State Security Service which has been widely criticised by most Nigerians.

 

Witnesses made it known that the combined team of Police, SSS, Nigerian Army and NSCDC took over the institution’s main gate as early as 6.30am in anticipation of the protest.

However, there was no protest in the area which made them unable to prevent movement despite their heavy presence.

 

It was also reported that the Oyo State Police Command had cautioned residents of the state to steer clear off the planned protest march against the Federal Government of Nigeria.
