According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), Trinity University, Yaba, Lagos, one of the newly approved Universities by the Nigeria Universities Commission (NUC), is to start the running of academic activities in Aril, 2019.

This was made known by the Chairman, Board of Trustees of the institution, Mr. Samuel Olatunji on Friday.

While speaking with NAN’s correspondents, he said that the university would commence with fourteen courses and two faculties and that it would be mentored by the University of Lagos (UNILAG).

He said that the two faculties which are faculty of science and faculty of arts, management and social sciences, would offer courses in computer science, information technology, industrial chemistry , mass communication and economics.
Olatunji also commended the NUC for maintaining international standards in the accreditation of new institutions across the country.

“The NUC does not compromise or lower standards when it comes to licensing of new universities or accreditation of courses. The process of getting approval and license for a new university from NUC is very tedious and that is why it took us nine years to obtain our license.

“While we wondered why it took that long, we saw files of some others who have been processing theirs for fifteen years and even above, while others got theirs in less than nine years,” Olatunji stated.

According to the Chairman, Trinity University eventually scored 95% during the NUC accreditation process as announced by the commission, due to qualified manpower and facilities on ground for the takeoff of the university.
