The management of the University of Lagos (UNILAG) has commended President Muhammadu Buhari (PMB) for approving the license of its campus television station.
Vice Chancellor of the institution, Prof. Oluwatoyin Ogundipe while speaking at a press conference in Lagos to herald the launching of the new station said that ever since UNILAG pioneered its radio station in 2002, it has been aiming of owning a TV station as well.
Prof. Ogundipe commended the board members under the leadership of Prof. Muyiwa Falaye and all the staff of UNILAG Media Center for a job well done.
“UNILAG Channel 184 would serve as a reference point in sports, documentaries, quality entertainment and as an instrument of educational advancement.
“The TV station will deliver premier local, national and international news as they unfold while also promoting the culture of the immediate communities by regularly highlighting the ideas, languages and social behavior in line with the provision of the National Broadcasting Commission’s code,” the VC said.
Prof. Falaye also stated that UNILAG TV belongs to the stable of UNILAG Media Ventures which is a limited liability company ready to contribute its quota to the development of the university.
