The Governing Council of the University of Lagos (UNILAG), Akoka, has fixed next week Monday and Tuesday, for an emergency meeting.
A notice was issued by the Registrar of the institution, Oladejo Azeez, who is also the secretary to the Governing Council of the university.
He sent the notice to all the Governing Council members on the instruction of the council chairman and Pro-Chancellor of the university, Dr. Wale Babalakin.
“The meeting is part of the measures aimed at addressing the series of controversies going on in the university,” a source stated.
The recent ‘harvest of queries’ in the institution whereby the Governing Council chairman instructed the Registrar to query some members of the university management including the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Oluwatoyin Ogundipe, had generated tension among the university staff and management.
Report also revealed that a team from the National Universities Commission (NUC) is billed to meet with the two parties at the university on Wednesday, May 15, 2019.
The aim of the proposed meeting is to intervene in the matter, which many said is already degeneration.
