UNILORIN VC Cautions Staff, Students against Drug

The Vice Chancellor of the University of Ilorin, Professor Sulyman Abdulkareem has warned members of the institution against drug abuse and excessive alcohol consumption.
The Vice Chancellor made this known on Monday during a sensitization program organized for security personnel of the university on drug abuse and alcoholism.
The VC who was represented by Prof. Bolaji Sule, Deputy Vice Chancellor, Management Services, said the program was a welcome development as it is meant to enlighten members of staff as well as students on the dangers of drug and alcohol abuse.
According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), the VC encouraged the security unit of the institution to support the initiative and inculcate ethics that would promote viable working environment.
Dr. Abdulrasheed Odunola, Director of Health Services, commended the management for the program aimed at creating awareness on the dangers of drug abuse and excess intake of alcohol.
He noted out the bad effects of drug abuse and alcoholism on staff and students which had led to accidents, suicide, loss of lives and insubordination at work and so many others.
Odunola urged staff and students of the institution to apply the knowledge acquired from the program on their job and studies, to ensure a drug and alcohol-free university.
