Members of the Non-Academic Staff Union of Universities (NASU) of the Osun State University protested on Wednesday over the non-payment of staff May and June salaries by the university.

According to Nigerian Tribune, the protesting members of the union locked the main gates of the institution while demonstrating and locked out parents and relatives of the graduating students.

It was reliably gathered that the development forced parents who came for the 6th convocation ceremony of the institution to park their vehicles on the stretch of Oshogbo-Ibokun road while some had to trek a long distance into the premises of the institution.

Prof. Labode Popoola, Vice Chancellor of the University had earlier had a pre-convocation press conference and sad that NASU members were not paid their salaries for failing to sign attendance register after a strike action in May and for shunning duties in June, contending that the Visitor to the institution and governor of Osun mandated the management of the university to invoke “No Work, No Pay” rule.
