Prof. Amidu Sanni, Vice Chancellor, Fountain University, Oshogbo, has said that universities in Nigeria must continue to identify and proffer solutions to challenges confronting people in their immediate environment.

The VC, while speaking to pressmen in his office on the preparation of the 8th convocation ceremony of the institution, said though the university was faith-based, it had been liberal in conducting its affairs. He was also glad to announce that the Nigerian Meteorological Agency had donated a weather centre to the university in Oshogbo.

Sanni explained that the donation was sequel to the Memorandum of Understanding the university signed with NiMET. He said the establishment of the weather centre, the university had commenced a degree program in Meteorological Sciences.

“The donation is timely and relevant to our aspirations as a university that is growing. We signed the MoU with NiMET a long time ago and the result of that is the donation of the weather centre.

“With the weather centre in place, the university will commence a degree program in Meteorological Sciences. We are sure more of such development will come to this university,” the VC said.

The VC was also very happy to announce that at the convocation ceremony of the institution, the immediate past governor of Osun state, Rauf Aregbesola, would receive honorary doctorate degree, while the Minister of Community Development in Ghana will deliver a special convocation message.
