University of Ilorin Has Highest Number of International Student Enrolment – CIE Director

The Director, Centre for International Education (CIE) of the University of Ilorin, Prof. Olabisi Olasehinde-Williams, has disclosed that the university has the highest number of international student enrolment in the country for the 2018/2019 Academic Session.

The Director made this known at the 10th International Students’ Day celebration which was held at the university campus on Tuesday.

According to her, the International student enrolment now stands at over three hundred from about fifteen countries across the African Sub Region.

She stated that the foreign students are pursuing courses in the Immersion, Undergraduate and Postgraduate programs of the university, adding that this semester alone, the university attracted 142 undergraduate and ten postgraduate students from thirteen countries.

She also said that the university currently has fifteen international staff members apart from those who come to different departments on exchange or research programs.

“To date, we have international staff and students from 20 countries, including Benin Republic, Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Chad, DRC, Egypt, Gambia, Ghana, Guinea, Ivory Coast, Japan, Liberia, Libya, Niger Republic, Senegal, Sierra Leone, Sri Lanka, Sudan, Pakistan, Togo, among others,” she stated.

She also revealed that UNILORIN, through the Centre’s facilitation, has spent over N40 million TETFund grants on university staff for International Conference attendance to different parts of the world.
