The University of Uyo (UNIUYO), Akwa Ibom state yesterday matriculated 8,416 students out of the 35,761 that applied for the 2019 academic session of the institution.

Prof. Enefiok Essien, Vice Chancellor of the institution administered the matriculation oath to the newly admitted students.

While welcoming and addressing the fresh students, the Vice Chancellor congratulated them for their success in gaining admission into the university.

He, however, advised the students to shun the abuse of drugs and to also stay away from other social vices that could compromise their stay in the university.

“I want to admonish you all to stay focus; take your academics seriously and graduate peacefully. You must all carry yourself well, eschew all forms of violence by staying away from bad gangs.

“Always be of good behavior so as to prove a worthy ambassador of this great university and a pride to your parents and the society in general,” the VC stated.

Prof Essien stated that the university, as results of its academic strides, has continued to receive large numbers of applications for admissions on a yearly basis.

“So, for all of you, today is a dream come true. I congratulate you for making the University of Uyo your first choice,” the VC added.
