UNN Hunts For New Vice Chancellor

As the current race for the seat of the Vice Chancellor of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN) increases, report revealed that there is an indication that fifteen out of the seventy-five candidates that showed interest for the post have emerged.

According to the institution, the fifteen professors are to be interviewed by the Governing Council of the university.

Report also revealed that some of the criteria applied by the authority of the university in the elimination series included positions held by the candidates, either as a VC, Deputy VC, Director, Dean of Faculty and detailed years of experience as a professor which must not be less than then fifteen years.

“With the last hammer of the Governing Council, 20 out of the 35 professors dropped from the list and 15 professors maintained the race which included three indigenous professors from Nsukka extraction who had occupied and excelled in various positions held in recent past,” a source stated.

Speaking on the chances of who might become the VC of the institution, the Special Adviser to Gov. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi on Market Matters, Chief Ezugwu Aniebonam, said that Nsukka zone had awakened to be in the forefront of the university ever since 1960.

He called on stakeholders both at home and abroad to join hands with the three indigenous professors for the post of the Vice Chancellor of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka.
