According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), the West Africa Examination Council (WAEC) is introducing a new technological solution to end examination malpractice.

WAEC announced this at its 56th Annual General Meeting of the Nigeria National Committee in Calabar on Thursday, Nov. 22, 2018.

According to the chairman of the committee, Dr. Lami Amodu, the new devised technology enables the exam body to achieve one hundred percent migration from paper-based to electronic-based enrolment, NAN reports.

“Nigeria National Office, in particular, has adopted Information and Communication Technology to improve its service delivery. These, among others, include the online registration of both school and private candidates for WASSCE.
“This development has enabled the Council to achieve 100 percent migration from paper-based to electronic-based enrolment for candidates. It has also aided the deployment of Quick Response Code on our certificates, thereby making it possible to falsify certificates issued by the council,” Amodu stated.
