The Federal Government has disclosed that it intends to construct standard laboratories in six different universities in each geo-political zones of the country.
Mr. Bitrus Nabasu, Permanent Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Science and Technology made the disclosure, saying that the government intends for the country to be among the top twenty economies in the world in the nearest future.
he stated this on Tuesday in Abuja, when he received an award for Icon for Societal Change from the National leadership of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS).
The Head of Public Relations of the Ministry, Abdul-Ganiyu Aminu, made this known in a statement.
“The Federal Government is to build one standard laboratory in a University in each geo-political zone of the country.
“The Permanent Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Science and Technology, Bitrus Nabasu disclosed this when he received an award of Icon for Societal Change from the national leadership of the NANS in Abuja.
“Nabasu told the delegation that the FG was determined to implement the recently signed Executive Order 5, which would make Nigeria to be a knowledge-based economy by 2030. Nigeria, he added, would be among the top 20 economies in the world in no distant time due to the policies of the FG, he stated.
“The Permanent Secretary disclosed the existence of a department in the Ministry saddled with the task of aiding scientists on their difficulties in the field of research and design,” he added.
