The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has suspended seventeen Computer-Based Test centers from registering candidates for the 2019 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) for their involvement in various forms of malpractices.
Dr. Emmanuel Ndukwe, the chairman of JAMB’s Governing Board, made this known in the board’s weekly bulletin which was released on Monday.
Dr. Ndukwe said that the board had regulated the registration with rules and regulations to prevent candidates from being extorted by fraudulent CBT centers.
“The 2019 registration commenced on Thursday, Jan. 10, and is expected to end on Thursday, Feb. 21. There would be no extension of the exercise as the deadline remains sacrosanct.
“To ensure that Nigerians are not exploited or have their data mutilated, the board has regulated the registration exercise so that we may obtain the actual statistics that will reflect the realities on the ground.
“Any center we find not complying with the ethics of registration will be sanctioned and we believe that this is the way to go in ensuring that the right things are done. All requirements have been defined and agreed upon by the board and center owners,” the chairman stated.
The suspended centers include; Matar Miser Cordiar center, Mardakem Limited, Akwa-Ibom; Bintels Global Services, Anambra; Global ICT Connect Limited, Benue; Swiftcom Global, Cross River; Sapele Technical College, Delta; Evangel University, Ebony; Bishop Gabriel CBT Center, Edo; DA Civic Center, Edo among others.
